      Simon Jones elevates this production from an average tale to supreme storytelling. THE DRAGON'S EYE has all the trappings of a typical fantasy: an average boy who is unaware of his origins slips into an alternate world beneath city streets. There he competes in a series of challenges featuring magic, riddles, and mythical creatures in order to fulfill his destiny. Sound familiar? British actor Simon Jones employs distinct voices for the many characters and uses, not always successfully, American accents for Erec and friends to distinguish them from the inhabitants of the magical kingdom. He switches easily from the deep rumble of a threatening minotaur to the high, wispy voice of a frail king, keeping the listener interested in his narration despite the predictable story. M.M.O.
