Will assuming the responsibility of the Pierson farm make him happy or is there something—or someone—else out in the wider world calling to him?
To Claire Smythe, the Scottish lead singer of a touring band, Highland, Georgia, is the perfect place to hide . . .until a very handsome and deeply curious Holt begins to ask all the questions Claire doesn't want to answer. As Holt draws Claire out from under and into the fabric of small-town life, can Claire put the past behind her and embrace the unexpected gifts of the season—including the new and lasting love?
"Laura Trentham creates a romance that is both extremely sensual and phenomenal."

Christmas comes to Highland, Ga., in the fun and flirty third installment to Trentham’s rom-com series (after A Highlander in a Pickup). Claire Smythe came to Highland from Scotland when her band, the Scunners, was hired to play a local festival, and is reluctant to return to the responsibility awaiting her in Scotland: on her 25th birthday, the day after Christmas, she’ll inherit shares of Glennallen Whisky, her family’s empire. She dreads being forced to participate in corporate politics, and decides to hide out in Highland, taking a job as a live-in caregiver for Ms. Meadows, an elderly widow. Though Ms. Meadows warns Claire away from their handsome neighbor, rancher Holt Pierson, Claire can’t deny her attraction to Holt, who has never been anything but kind toward Claire. But when their mutual attraction sizzles into a steamy physical relationship, Claire is reluctant to get too emotionally attached, knowing eventually she’ll have to leave and face her family’s expectations. Claire’s transformation from a world-weary drifter with trust issues into a caring, confident woman is magnetic. This adorable romance makes for perfect holiday reading.

The small town of Highland, GA, once again plays host to romance in Trentham's third series installment (after A Highlander in a Pickup). Whiskey heiress Claire Smythe has ditched her Scottish rock band and is hiding out in Highland while caring for an elderly widow, trying to decide her next move. She's not looking for romance with a local man--and that includes hunky farm boy Holt Pierson. But Claire's prickly personality is no match for the charming and persistent Holt, who offers the bike-riding Claire plenty of lifts in his pickup truck to get to know her better. While Claire is happy to join Holt in his truck and his bed, she refuses to grant him access to her heart, knowing she may soon return to Scotland. But as the holidays approach and Claire becomes more involved in the community, that decision becomes more difficult. VERDICT Pair with A Highlander in a Pickup for a double dose of small-town charm and a continuation of the previous couple's story alongside Holt and Claire's new relationship.--Kathryn Howe, Saint John Free P.L., NB
