The third book in USA TODAY bestselling romantic suspense author Colleen Coble's Annie Pederson Series (following Dark of Night) returns to fan-favorite Rock Harbor as Annie's happily ever after is finally within sight . . . If she can stay alive long enough to grasp it. Perfect for fans of Terri Blackstock, Dani Pettrey, and Lisa Harris.

Law enforcement officer Annie Pederson's life has been rocked by tragedy, but things finally seem to be heading in the right direction. Her relationship with the love of her life—who's also the biological father of her precious daughter—has never been better, and it looks like an engagement ring is in Annie's future. She's also slowly building back trust with her sister, Sarah, after a separation that lasted for decades.

When a man escapes law enforcement custody and Sarah's safety is suddenly in question, Annie's personal and professional lives once again merge. Meanwhile, her investigation of hikers who have gone missing in the remote woods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula puts her in the crosshairs of a deadly game.

Now, Annie is the one being hunted. When she discovers the terrible truth about the men who are stalking her, she realizes that she's in for the fight of her life if she's going to redeem the sister she once lost, build the family she dreams of, and keep all those she loves safe.

Readers love Break of Day's Rock Harbor setting, twisty mystery, second-chance romance, complicated family secrets, and hopeful ending. Start reading today!

The Annie Pederson Series starts with Edge of Dusk and is followed by Dark of Night and Break of Day.

In the overbusy final installment of Coble’s Annie Pederson trilogy (after Dark of Night), a parks ranger works to crack a kidnapping case before she becomes a target. After some professional and personal turbulence, it seems Annie Pederson’s life is on stable ground: she’s learned that Jon, the love of her life (and, she hopes, future fiancé), is her daughter’s father, and the three are poised to settle down together. But when Glenn Hussert, a criminal accused of kidnapping and embezzlement, disappears from police custody, it becomes clear danger is lurking nearby—a suspicion that’s confirmed when Annie receives a phone call suggesting Glenn is being held against his will. As Annie digs into Glenn’s exploits, she uncovers potential links between his possible kidnappers and a number of hikers who have recently gone missing, all while contending with family issues, including a difficult relationship with her sister. Annie pursues the case and is soon stalked by gun-toting men who clearly want to curtail the investigation, leading her to stake her faith in God to protect herself and her loved ones. Despite moments of pulse-pounding suspense, readers may struggle to keep up with the myriad, overlapping story lines—including ones following Annie’s struggles to trust her formerly estranged sister, a friend’s cancer treatment, and Jon’s plans to propose to Annie (plus his own father’s recent engagement)—several of which feel rushed to wrap up by the story’s end. Coble’s fans may be left wanting.
