Gr 5-8-These two books offer light, friendly, and accessible approaches to health topics that tweens and teens care about. Readers are encouraged to eat a balance of healthy foods and exercise in Shape; the tone is fun and encouraging. Body includes coverage of gross topics (zits, warts, etc.), food, stress, and other general concerns. The photos and diagrams are bright and colorful, and go well with the text. Most similar series are dry, but these titles are colorful, conversational, and extremely teen centered. Quizzes and "Top Ten Tips" lists make them particularly helpful, though the format is more suitable for browsing than for research. Solid offerings.-Robin Henry, Wakeland High School, Frisco, TX

These volumes present one hundred and one numbered facts that are loosely grouped by topic (human body systems, "embarrassing" functions in Body; eating and exercise in Shape). On busy pages, informational paragraphs, quizzes, anecdotes about famous people, case studies, photographs, etc., all vie for attention. Body ends with "Top Ten Tips." Reading list, websites.
